TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Last week’s win wasn’t just a win. It was a statement. There is something to be said about putting 48 points on the scoreboard with playoffs on the line.
What a day it was for Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield.
For the second time this season, Baker Mayfield was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
He completed about 85% of his passes for 359 yards and a career-high 5 touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers, which tied his personal best.
“Having everyone around me, the line upfront protecting me is a huge reason why I am able to have those numbers,” Mayfield said.
“I would like to have a lot more wins and not be in the scenario where we’re playing the last game of the regular season to get in. That truly is what matters to me and that’s it,” Mayfield said.
If the Bucs beat the Saints on Sunday in Week 18, they’re in the playoffs.
