Tampa Bay decides to stay in house for their OC job
After Liam Coen departed the Buccaneers for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching job, Tampa Bay was left searching for a fourth offensive coordinator in four years and they have now found their man.
The Bucs are promoting Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator, keeping the continuity for Tampa Bay.

As the tweet mentions, Grizzard, 34 was the team’s passing game coordinator in 2024. He was also in charge of third downs for the Bucs offense. something the team was very successful at. Tampa Bay’s third down offense was the best in the NFL, converting at a 50.9% clip.
With this move also comes some level of continuity for the Bucs and quarterback Baker Mayfield. Changing coordinators and staffs every year is not a recipe for success so it is nice to see the Bucs make the in house hire to try and keep some of that same success they had in 2024.
Grizzard has never been a play caller at the NFL level, but Tampa Bay has taken that gamble before and it has paid off with Dave Canales being the most recent example of someone with no NFL play calling experience.
We will see how the Bucs offense fares in 2024, but this could be a step in the right direction to continue what they started last season.
