Mock drafts can get a bit repetitive in terms of how the exercise is done. Sometimes, folks will throw an added guideline to filling out picks, and a common one is going with either all skill players or all defensive players.
This week, PFF decided to publish a new mock draft with one added rule to the selections and the result gave the Bucs an interesting pick. Nathan Jahnke of PFF published a mock draft where every pick had to be a skill player.
Jahnke has the Bucs drafting TCU wide receiver Savion Williams at 19 overall. He writes that, “The Buccaneers offense is well-rounded with no apparent need if they can re-sign Chris Godwin. Mike Evans will be 32 years old before next season begins, which means his time in the NFL will likely end in the next few seasons. Williams is a physically gifted athlete who was a duel-threat weapon in college. The best-case scenario is Williams sits for two-to-three seasons and develops into a long-term X receiver.”
Savion Williams is not a receiver that I am exceptionally high on, but others are believers in him. In this exercise, though, we don’t have to worry much about Williams being in contention at pick 19 when the draft rolls around.
Ya’ll remember our good friend Cordarrelle Patterson? What if I told you he’s in this draft class, except he’s 10 years younger and bigger?
