Rookie receiver will add depth to the offense.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today designated wide receiver Kameron Johnson for return from Injured Reserve. Johnson begins his 21-day practice window today, and he is eligible to be activated at any time during the 21-day period.
Johnson (5-10, 170) originally signed with the Buccaneers as a college free agent on May 10, 2024. He has appeared in four games for Tampa Bay this season, seeing action in Weeks 1-2 and 4-5. Johnson played collegiately at Barton College (2020-23), where he appeared in 37 career games and recorded 151 receptions for 2,316 yards and 19 touchdowns. He wears No. 19 for Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay’s staff was big on Johnson’s potential when he was brought in. His speed and physicality was highly regarded throughout the offseason and talked about during preseason. That was teased briefly during his limited appearances this season before getting injured.
Although he may not make immediate, and perhaps not many game-changing plays, he’ll add another set of hands for quarterback Baker Mayfield to throw to with the possibility of making things happen after the catch.
