A few years ago there might not have been more heated feud between a media member and an athlete than Colin Cowherd vs. Baker Mayfield. But after all he’s seen from Mayfield this season – and in yesterday’s playoff game especially – Cowherd is ready to bury the hatchet.
On Tuesday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd said that he likes what Mayfield has done in the low-pressure environment of Tampa Bay and how he’s been able to be a great fit for them in the first year after Tom Brady retired.
Cowherd explained that he felt Mayfield was too immature to handle Cleveland and too in over his head for that team when he was first drafted and their beef first started. But he made it clear that he doesn’t hold grudges and is happy to see Mayfield thriving now.
“I like Baker Mayfield… From semi bust to Bucs. I’m here for it,” Cowherd said.
“Baker’s fitting in with Tampa as well as any free agent can with a new team. He looked every bit of a #1 pick yesterday,” one user replied.
“He wasn’t even a bust. His last year in Cleveland he played most of the season with a torn labrum but Cleveland made him a pariah,” another pointed out.
“Nah don’t jump on the bandwagon now Colin,” a third asked with a laugh.
Just don’t expect Cowherd and Mayfield to do any holiday gift-sharing in the near future.
