Fantasy football is heating up and it is only going to get more interesting as we get through the combine next week and free agency the weeks after. For fantasy players, the landscape of the game is about to take a seismic shift.
One thing that is always hard to predict, regardless of move, but sometimes there are instances where we see a room for opportunity.
PFF has done just that for IDP players specifically, they have found the teams with the biggest room for growth. It just so happens, the Bucs are seen as one of those teams for a linebacker and how they can rpdouce in a defensive fantasy league.
Jonathon Macri points out that the Bucs have 88.2% of their linebacker snaps currently vacated by free agency and who is retained on the roster. He points out, “Lavonte David and K.J. Britt led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in linebacker snaps in 2024, and both are pending free agents this offseason. David’s retirement is on the table, as well. This would create a massive need for Tampa Bay, as well as a prime opportunity for a free-agent linebacker to be the next great Buccaneers IDP at the position, at least for 2025.”
There seems to be a growing concern that Lavonte David may not return to the Bucs as the team starts to plan for the future. If they do move on, signing someone in free agency or drafting someone at 19 seems to be the likely outcome.
Either way, for whoever steps in, there will be a lot of snaps and chances to make an impact on Todd Bowles’ defense.
