Since taking the Jaguars head coaching job, Liam Coen has been building his staff in a unique way. He has been requesting interviews with several Bucs assistant coaches, but many have been blocked.
Jenna Laine of ESPN reported on Thursday that the Jaguars were hiring former Bucs assistant John Van Dam to be their pass game specialist.
John Van Dam has been with the Bucs since 2019, serving in various roles. In 2024, he was an offensive quality control coach, assistant tight ends coach, and pass game assistant.
Laine points out that Van Dam’s contract did expire at the end of the 2024 season so he was able to leave for the Jaguars even though it was a lateral move.
In recent days, Coen has been building his staff. He hired Grant Udinski, a 29-year-old Vikings assistant, as his new offensive coordinator. The rest of his staff is coming along, but the Bucs continue to make things difficult for him.
