TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Josh Grizzard is described as innovative and smart by Bucs head coach Todd Bowles.
He helped design one of the most productive offenses last season as a pass game coordinator.
Now he’s at the helm of the offense.
One of the most important things to highlight is the continuity for Baker Mayfield and the Bucs’ offense. Grizzard says Mayfield was the first person to congratulate him.
“From Jason, all the way to Todd and the guys in the back, that’s what makes it great, the people,” Grizzard said. “You hear it all the time but just knowing the foundation we have in place you get to stay here with great people and great players who care about each other and care about the game, that is the most exciting part.”
He takes over an offense that was top five in the NFL in 2024. This is now Grizzard’s offense as he is calling the shots from here on out, and his coaching philosophy is attack and be aggressive.
“As coaches, we need to be able to adjust to scheme. It could be on a yearly basis. It could be on a weekly basis to put the players in a position to score points. So that’s what we’re tasked to do now we have another off-season to be able to add to that and add different pieces,” Grizzard said. “We feel like last year was just the foundation to take it to the next level.”
As the pass game coordinator, Grizzard was not just working with quarterback Baker Mayfield. He would spend each practice working with the different position groups on offense.
