The NFL Scouting Combine can make or break a player’s projection into the league. For players with athletic backgrounds, their testing could equate to robbing a bank based on the money they can gain from good numbers.
The Bucs are expected to target one of the players who, with his profile and background, could have a big combine.
Mike Green of Marshall has been on a constant rise all year during a dominant college football season. He is expected to be a big riser coming out of the combine and as a result he made a recent list predicting risers coming out of the NFL’s annual event.
Tyler Brooke of The 33rd Team writes, “With his athletic profile, Green should turn plenty of heads during on-field work in Indianapolis. He’s previously been clocked at 4.57 seconds in the 40-yard dash while also benching 405 pounds and squatting 525. If his testing can match his ability to win with speed and strength, he’ll solidify top-10 draft status. . .”
Mike Green is already teetering on the edge of being available for the Bucs at pick 19. With a strong combine, he is likely to jump into the top ten, as Brooke predicts. What would be horribly ironic is he could easily be drafted by division rivals like the Panthers and Saints, who draft 9th and 10th, respectively.
