TAMPA, FLA. (WFLA) — Sunday night should be a high-scoring game, especially if the Buccaneers offense does its part.
Both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Commanders are top five in scoring offense.
Washington is 5th in scoring offense, top 10 on third down. Tampa Bay is 4th in scoring offense, top three on third down.
“It’s truly win or go home,” Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen said. “There isn’t anything going on next week unless you truly leave it out there and do everything you are supposed to do when it’s crunch time and when it really matters. Not to say the regular season does not matter but yes, the intensity and the stakes are a little bit higher.”
The Bucs will have to run the ball.
We know Baker Mayfield has also been sneaky with his legs with over 20 yards per game on the ground. However, the Commanders defense holds quarterbacks to 4.2 YPC and is allowing 4.9 YPC to running backs.
“It’s what we worked towards,” Coen said. “A lot of the core guys who won the Super Bowl are still here and we try to hold that standard a championship standard in caliber.”
Another key to winning on Sunday is Baker Mayfield doing well against the blitz, which he has done this season. Mayfield has 17 TDs, 4 INTs.
