TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — When it comes to the success of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ team you have to credit the rookies. Collectively this draft class is holding its own, especially on the offense.
“When they’ve come into the building and made the impact that they’ve made it’s pretty cool,” said Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen.
Three of the Bucs’ seven picks have scored touchdowns in the last two games.
“They did a pretty good job on the draft this past year,” Coen said.
Running back Bucky Irving hit the 1,000-yard mark on the ground last week against the Panthers and wide receiver Jalen McMillan scored two touchdowns on his birthday.
“The work that he’s done to put himself in a position that he’s doing, he earned that, and there was a lot of work that went into that for him to earn the right to play the way he’s playing right now,” Coen said.
“A lot of our rookies, the success they’re having is really cool, and I think it’s kind of a tell of the culture we have here because it’s very welcoming,” said Bucs offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs. “I don’t think we have any me guys, everyone’s buying into the same culture and doing our best.”
If the Bucs win on Sunday, it would be their fourth straight division title.
