TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The University of South Florida will celebrate the life of Amir Abdur-Rahim, the men’s basketball head coach who died suddenly at the age of 43 this week.
Abdur-Rahim passed away Thursday during a medical procedure at a Tampa-area hospital.
Two celebrations of life will take place to honor his life, one in Tampa, and one at Kennesaw State, where Abdur-Rahim coached prior to his move to USF. Kennesaw is also located near his hometown of Marietta, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those remembering his life to consider donating to the Future Foundation, a cause that held a special place in his heart.
Abdur-Rahim is survived by his wife and three children.
