NHL Predictions
Ottawa Senators vs Detroit Red Wings
Head-to-Head: Senators 2-1 Red Wings
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: TSN5; Fan Duel Sports Detroit X; ESPN+
We open up NHL predictions with our featured game between the Senators and the Red Wings. Ottawa is projected to start Linus Ullmark in net for this game. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Senators are 7-3 in the last 10 games, but lost the last time out. Tim Stutzle has generated 20 goals and 50 assists for Ottawa.
Detroit is likely to go with Alex Lyon in the blue paint for this game. The Red Wings are 3-7 in the last 10 games and are three points off the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Detroit is 8-10-1 against Atlantic Division opponents this season. Lucas Raymond has recorded 24 goals and 46 assists for the Red Wings.
Ottawa sits in the first wild card spot and should pick up two valuable points.
Prediction: Senators win 4-2.
Washington Capitals vs Minnesota Wild
Head-to-Head: Capitals 0-1 Wild
Time: 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: Sportsnet; Monumental Sports Network 2; ESPN+; Hulu; Disney+
Our second game of NHL predictions has the Washington Capitals visiting the Minnesota Wild. The Capitals are expected to start Logan Thompson in the crease for this game. Washington is 8-1-1 in the last 10 games, but lost to the Winnipeg Jets in its last game. Alex Ovechkin has 36 goals this season and is closing in on the league’s all-time goal record help by Wayne Gretzky.
Filip Gustavsson is the probable starter for the Wild, who are 4-5-1 in the last 10 games. Minnesota, which has lost the last two games, have gone 35-3-2 in games they score three or more goals. However, goals have been tough to come by with 1.8 goals scored in the last 10. Matt Boldy has totaled 23 goals and 37 assists for the Wild.
Washington should get back on track against a Minnesota team struggling to score.
Prediction: Capitals win 4-1.
Los Angeles Kings vs Colorado Avalanche
Head-to-Head: Kings 0-1 Avalanche
Time: 10 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: ESPN
The last game of our NHL predictions has the Colorado Avalanche hosting the Los Angeles Kings. Darcy Kuemper is the expected starter for the Kings, who are on a four-game winning streak. The Kings are also 9-1 in the last 10 games and are trying to get home ice in the first round. Kevin Fiala has averaged a point a game as of late with four goals and six assists over the past 10 games.
Colorado is likely to go with Mackenzie Blackwood in net for this game. The Avalanche are 8-1-1 in the last 10 games and winners of the last three games. Colorado is great at home this season with a 24-10-2 record at Ball Arena. Cale Makar is putting up big numbers on the blueline with 27 goals and 55 assists for the Avalanche.
This could be a Western Conference Final preview, but take Colorado in this one.
Prediction: Avalanche win 3-2.
