It’s difficult to choose a player when the team is swept
When a team is swept in a three game series, it can be difficult to pick a player that stood out. There were solid pitching performances from all three starting pitchers, with one bad inning wrecking the nights of both Taj Bradley and Zack Littell. Offensive, Jonathan Aranda hit a homerun and provided some great at-bats.
However, for these three games, we’ll pick Brandon Lowe as the Rays 3rd Player of the Series
This past weekend, Lowe collected four hits in 12 trips to the plate, including his 129th homerun in a Rays uniform. That homerun pushed him into 3rd place on the Rays all-time HR leaderboard, surpassing Aubrey Huff. This is what makes Brandon Lowe our Player of the Series.
DRAYSBAY PLAYER OF THE SERIES
- 1st: Kameron Misner
- 2nd: Jake Mangum
- 3rd: Brandon Lowe
One of the longest tenured Rays in franchise history and the longest tenured Ray on the active roster, 30-year old Brandon Lowe has proven to be one of the best offensive second baseman in baseball when healthy. After being selected by the Rays in the 3rd round of the 2015 draft, Lowe was slowly making his way through the minor leagues until catching fire in 2018 and surging through several levels and making his big league debut.
Since then, Lowe has hit .246/.330/.483 with 129 HR over 620 games, registering a 126 wRC+ and 15.4 fWAR.
Thus far in 2025, Lowe is hitting .306/.342/.556 with 3 HR over 38 PA, registering 154 wRC+ and accruing 0.3 fWAR over 9 games.
The Rays will begin their next series, a three-game set, against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday.
