Caballero’s grand slam gave the Rays their lone victory of the series
It was a series worth forgetting for the Tampa Bay Rays as they lost two of the three games to the Los Angeles Angels. However, the middle game of the set did feature a bright spot as Jose Caballero launched the first grand slam of his career and the Rays needed every run it provided as they narrowly held on to defeat the Angels, 5-4 on Wednesday.
Thanks to this grand slam, Jose Caballero has been named our Player of the Series.
Caballero collected two hits and a walk in seven trips to the plate; one of those hits was the grand slam and the other was a triple (heavily assisted by Mike Trout) that almost changed the complexion of the game on Tuesday. Meanwhile, he proved himself to be a versatile defender as he played four positions over the three games.
